Cooked in the pressure pot of a global pandemic, “Containment Kids” compresses that one year into 12 tracks of spoken word flavored hip hop.
2020 was a year when nothing could really happen because reality had to happen. The second full length release from BLUE GENE manifests this global moment in Charles Amblard’s gritty synth melodies while raw drum patterns hold their course steady. Lyrics break out from the prism of pressure into distinct patterns of prose and of poetry and of Ewokessay’s signature rhyme styling.
Containment Kids echoes with the energy inherited from the shock to the global system. With this 12 track offering, BLUE GENE gets busy behind the scenes while the world crawls slowly forward to the new normal.
